FACT vs FICTION - Ghetto Myths or Urban Legend?

GHETTO MYTHS or URBAN LEGEND - There are so many stories that are told and have been told.. that if properly researched and scientifically analysed have no foundation in truth or at least the proof of this truth remains to be found.. still stories are told and remain alive in the minds of people and in this way they become real, even if they are false.. As we breathe life into them every time they are repeated, shared and even reinvented or retold with a particular twist or style or embellishment added for extra dramatic effect..

Often there are also some good persons who may have lived legendary lives and touched the hearts of many persons in their community, who are remembered for good reason. Memories of them are fond and when spoken of they incite excitement and bring a feeling of joy and warmth as people share stories with smiles and laughter. Stories are told of them to remind everyone that such an extraordinary person really existed there and whether or not they were appreciated whilst they lived there, often the memories and stories of Legends are left behind to inspire others to walk in their footsteps.

Still I don't think that the memory of anyone worth their weight in salt is honoured by telling stories that mislead or discourage persons from finding out the truth. Often in our culture so many stories and lies has been told that at times its almost impossible to tell fact from Fiction! And many families, friends and relationships have been destroyed by the deceitful tongue of liars and the counter-effect of stories being told that once told cannot be untold and things said that cannot be unsaid. Sometimes it can cause devastation that cannot be undone and even families being torn apart that suffer for generations, children don't know the truth about who their families really are etc. And still the stories continue to be told and all too often persons relish sharing stories of other persons misfortune and heartbreak more than they share stories of love, success and honour..
But as Buju said I could go on and on the full has never been told!..
